I’ve been taking snapshots since I was a kid and, like my father, I always took more pictures of flowers than people. The past decade has seen me working my way through a slowly upgrading line of Canon point-and-shoot cameras. Finally signed up for Flickr, and between trying my hand at the “365 days” project — I’ll try again in a year or so, but after I try 365 days of something else — and playing with my camera settings more during the change of seasons, the account’s been growing like the greenery out back.
There’s a lot to like about Flickr. A big draw is that it lets you organize your work in a couple of different ways — very handy.
And it’s a surprisingly social activity. Lots of encouragement to give, and to get. And many people working earnestly to improve their technique — there’s always something to learn.
